Asthma as we know is a reversible airways disease. But long term uncontrolled asthmatic activities could lead to irreversible conditions such as COPD. Asthma is very common and cannot be cured but there are precautions you can take to control your symptoms. Asthma symptoms include: Shortness of breath, chest tightness, wheezing, or trouble sleeping. For some people Asthma can be exacerbated by exercise, allergies, the flu, or irritants such as dust.
Asthma has various triggers including, cold air, pollutants, upper respiratory infections, stress, acid reflux, some food preservatives, and dust or pollen. In order to prevent asthma attacks it is important to discuss with your doctor about possible preventative measures. These include getting vaccinated for the flu, taking prescribed medications, and identifying asthma attacks early on. If you find that you are relying regularly on your inhaler, or your asthma symptoms are getting more severe or more frequent, please speak to your doctor about possibly changing your treatment.
